Basilicas and Churches of Rome:
The Basilica of San Giovanni in Laterano is the Cathedral of Rome and the most important of the four major basilicas. The central bronze portals are the original portals of the Roman Curia found in the Imperial Forums.
Santa Maria Maggiore is the largest church in Rome in honor of the Virgin Mary and is one of the largest basilicas in the city. The shape of the plant of the Basilica was drawn by a miraculous snowfall.
The Basilica of St. Paul Outside the Walls is one of the four major basilicas of Rome, the second in size after that of St. Peter. The medieval basilica erected on the burial site of the apostle St. Paul was destroyed by fire and rebuilt in the 18th century.
